Colin Campbell is a trial attorney with over thirty years of experience and an exceptional record of success in the courtroom. There are very few lawyers in the United States that have obtained multiple seven figure jury verdicts in several different areas of personal injury law, including motor vehicle and motorcycle cases; construction accidents, and medical malpractice. Mr. Campbell is one of them. He is also regularly retained by other lawyers and law firms to consult with and assist them with their personal injury trials.
Campbell began his career working as an attorney for insurance companies. After several years, he decided that he was more at home on the other side of the courtroom, where he could help regular people as opposed to trying to save insurance companies money. Since that time, he has been able to utilize the knowledge and experience he gained on the defense side to help his clients achieve justice.
Campbell has tried many personal injury cases in the various counties of Western and Central New York and has an established reputation as a successful and effective trial lawyer. He regularly receives recognition as one of the very top personal attorneys by national organizations as Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Avvo. He has also been named as a “Best Lawyer” locally by Buffalo Business First.
Campbell has also obtained the highest rating for legal ability and ethics from Martindale-Hubbell. This is the “AV” or “Preeminent” rating which is based on the opinions of judges and other attorneys and signifies that he is ranked at the highest level of professional excellence.
In the past thirty years, Campbell has recovered many millions of dollars for hundreds of clients in nine different counties in New York. Many of those cases were referred to him by other attorneys and by former clients. Most recently, in February 2022, he was co-counsel for an injured motorcycle operator who was awarded just under $10,000,000 by a jury after a three-week trial. This is believed to be the highest verdict in a motorcycle/motor vehicle case in the state this year.
In 2021, Campbell obtained a $1.4 million dollar verdict for a Buffalo woman who sustained injury at the hands of a physician while undergoing a hysterectomy. That result was recognized as one of the top 20 verdicts in New York that year.
In 2019, he obtained two jury verdicts recognized as amongst the highest in the State, in their categories, one for a car crash trial in Chautauqua County involving a Fredonia man and the other for a Tonawanda woman injured on a public bus.
In 2017, Campbell obtained over $5,000,000 for the family of a seaman who suffered fatal injuries while working on a Great Lakes freighter.
In 2016, he served as trial co-counsel for a Silver Creek welder who suffered back and neck injuries at a construction site. A Buffalo jury awarded over $6,000,000.
In 2014, Campbell obtained a verdict of $1.25 million dollars for a Dunkirk woman who was injured when a private ambulance service attempted to move her from her home to an ambulance without following proper procedures or using appropriate equipment. The verdict came after a two-week trial before a jury in Mayville and was the highest verdict in a personal injury case in Chautauqua County that year.
Campbell also helped a Rochester widow and her daughters obtain $1.9 million dollars after they lost their husband and father in a one-car accident. The responsible insurance carrier initially took the position that there was only $100,000 in available coverage, but Campbell was able to obtain evidence that the defendant driver was engaged in business pursuits at the time of the accident, thereby finding over a million dollars in additional coverage for the family.
In another case, Mr. Campbell obtained $2,000,000 for a 52-year-old Springville millwright who sustained back injuries after being struck by a piece of fallen scaffolding.
In 2010, he obtained a verdict of $4.1 million dollars from a Buffalo jury for a 49-year-old man who sustained a neck and back injury while undergoing surgery to donate a kidney to his mother. This is one of the five highest medical malpractice verdicts ever obtained in Western New York.
He has coached youth soccer and basketball in his community, was President and a charter board member of the local Boys and Girls Club, and served on the local school board. Campbell was elected and served as a Town Justice for eight years.
He is married and has three children. He is a dedicated runner and has completed eleven marathons and over fifty half marathons. He also enjoys hiking, biking and camping.
