As reported by Trains News Wire in the article “New York subway track worker in intensive care after being struck by train,” a 64-year-old Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) employee was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by an out-of-service F train early on June 6. The accident occurred near the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets station in Brooklyn while the worker was serving as a flagger for a four-person inspection crew.
The employee, who has six years of experience working on the subway tracks, was taken to Bellevue Hospital with severe head trauma. According to MTA Senior Vice President Demetrius Crichlow, the injured worker is currently responsive but limited in communication. Crichlow, who is slated to become the interim president of NYC Transit, addressed the media regarding the incident.
