As reported by WGRZ in the article “New York State ‘Move Over’ law expansion begins”, New York is broadening its commitment to roadside safety with a significant update to its existing Move Over law.
The original Move Over law, enacted in 2010, was designed to protect emergency responders and roadside workers by requiring drivers to slow down and move over when passing stopped police vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, and maintenance crews. Now, that same level of protection is being extended even further.
