As shared by WYRK in the article “This Is What You Do If You Hit A Bear In New York State”, wildlife collisions with bears, while rare, do happen — and drivers need to be prepared.
According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), as many as 100 bears are struck and killed by vehicles in the state each year. While that number pales in comparison to deer-related collisions, which occur in the thousands, the size and danger of a bear make these incidents especially serious.
