Man on E-Bike Fatally Struck by SUV in North Tonawanda

ERIE COUNTY, NY – A 58-year-old man from Jamestown died Monday morning in North Tonawanda after being hit by a vehicle while operating an electric bike, reports WIVB 4.

The fatal incident unfolded in the area of Twin City Memorial Highway and Tremont Street. North Tonawanda Police responded to the scene at about 11:25 a.m.

According to officials, the man was on an e-bike and heading eastbound on Tremont Street. He reportedly failed to yield to the right of way of a 2014 Ford Explorer that was heading southbound on the highway and was subsequently struck by the vehicle.

First responders rushed the cyclist to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) in life-threatening condition. Officials confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

No information about the driver of the Ford has been shared, but they cooperated with investigators and is not expected to be charged.
