GENESEE COUNTY, NY – Three people were injured as a result of a wreck that caused an ambulance to roll over Thursday afternoon in Batavia, according to WIVB 4.
Genesee County dispatchers were first alerted to the incident at around 2:45 p.m., prompting an emergency response at the corner of Route 98 and Batavia-Elba Townline Road.
Preliminary details show a Mercy EMS ambulance was heading northbound on the highway when an eastbound 2024 Kia failed to yield at the intersection. Moments later, the Kia struck the ambulance, causing it to overturn and come to rest on its roof.
Officials said the ambulance was occupied by crews and a patient at the time. The patient, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was taken by another ambulance to United Memorial Medical Center.
The Kia’s two occupants–the driver and one passenger–were transported by ground ambulance and by Mercy Flight, respectively, to Erie County Medical Center for injuries considered non-life-threatening.
An investigation remains underway.
