AMHERST, NY – A 23-year-old Williamsville man died Monday night as a result of a two-vehicle collision in northeast Buffalo, according to WGRZ.
The fatal wreck occurred at the intersection of Sheridan Drive and Esjay Road, near Georgetown Square, at about 9:40 p.m.
Amherst Police said that the Williamsville man was driving a 2019 Honda CRV westbound on Sheridan Drive when he turned left onto the southbound lanes of Esjay Road. During the turn, the Honda collided with a 2008 Chevy Impala being driven eastbound on Sheridan by a 35-year-old Amherst man.
First responders arrived on the scene to find the Impala had caught fire due to the impact. The Williamsville man was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after.
The driver of the CRV, who sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening, was transported to Erie County Medical Center along with their 3-year-old passenger, who suffered critical injuries. Officials said the young child’s condition has since been updated to “critical but stable” after a transfer to Oishe Hospital.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains underway. No charges or citations have been confirmed.
