Woman killed, 5 others injured in Town of Cambria collision

NIAGARA COUNTY, NY – The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multi-injury, two-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon in the Town of Cambria that claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman, reports WIVB 4.

The fatal accident occurred at the corner of Lower Mountain Road and Baer Road, prompting a response from police at about 3:15 p.m.

According to officials, a Ford pickup truck was heading northbound on Baer when it failed to stop at a stop sign. Moments later, the pickup collided with a Mercury that was traveling westbound on Lower Mountain.

The victim, a Niagara Falls resident who was in the back set of the pickup when it rolled onto its side during the crash, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Two other people in the pickup, along with three others in the sedan, suffered a range of injuries. All were rushed to Erie County Medical Center. Officials noted that the driver of the sedan, who sustained a major leg injury, had to be transported by airlift.

No pending charges or citations have been reported. An investigation remains underway.
