Man hurt as cement truck rear-ends car near Amherst

ERIE COUNTY, NY – A 59-year-old man from Niagara Falls was injured Wednesday morning when he crashed a cement truck into the back of a vehicle near Amherst, reports WIVB 4.

The wreck occurred on the eastbound side of North French Road approaching Millersport Highway.

According to the Amherst Police Department, the man was behind the wheel of a cement truck heading eastbound on North French Road when the truck rear-ended a Chevy Impala driven by an 80-year-old North Tonawanda woman.

The impact sent the truck to the right, causing it to roll on come to rest on its driver’s side. Crews had to extricate the driver from the vehicle before transporting him by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).

Officials said neither the driver of the Chevy nor their passenger were reported hurt.

Authorities continue to investigate, and no charges or citations have been reported as of this writing.
