ERIE COUNTY, NY – A pair of collisions caused long delays late Thursday afternoon on Interstate 290 near the northwest and southeast corners of Amherst, according to WGRZ TrafficTracker2.
By 5:18 p.m., emergency crews had already arrived on the scene of one crash on eastbound I-290 between Niagara Falls Boulevard and Interstate 990. Traffic cameras captured footage of multiple emergency vehicles and police cruisers blocking the right lane and shoulder.
The second incident was also reported on the ramp connecting eastbound I-290 to westbound I-90. Footage taken at the scene suggests two passenger vehicles were involved, with at least one police vehicle seen responding.

Officials have not confirmed any major injuries or hospitalizations in connection to the two separate events, but traffic was backed up for nearly two miles near each scene.
