Driver dies after wreck involving dump truck in Lockport

NIAGARA COUNTY, NY – A 70-year-old local resident lost their life Wednesday afternoon after their car collided with a dump truck in Lockport, reports WIVB 4.

The accident happened at the corner of Beattie Avenue and Hamm Road, prompting an emergency response shortly after 1:15 p.m.

According to New York State Police, the victim was operating a Honda Civic when they neglected to yield to the right-of-way while making a left turn onto Beattie Avenue. Moments later, the Honda was struck by the dump truck.

First responders pronounced the driver of the Honda deceased at the scene.

No injuries to the dump truck driver were reported.

Officials did not immediately indicate whether any charges or citations are anticipated. An investigation remains in progress.
