Teen on motorized bike hit, killed by pickup truck at Tonawanda intersection

ERIE COUNTY, NY – A 15-year-old boy died Tuesday night, July 23rd, after being struck by a pickup truck while operating a motorized scooter in Tonawanda, according to WIVB 4.

The fatal incident took place at the intersection of Woodstock Avenue and Yorkshire Road at about 8:20 p.m.

Tonawanda Police Department officials said a 44-year-old man from Town of Tonawanda was behind the wheel of a Ford F-250 pickup truck when he was involved in the crash that sent the teen to Oishei Children’s Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Officials later confirmed his death.

The driver, who stayed behind at the scene and cooperated with investigators, is not expected to be charged.
