GENESEE COUNTY, NY – A 25-year-old driver faces multiple charges after leading police on a pursuit that ended in a rollover crash early Sunday, July 14, in Batavia, reports WIV 4.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said the incident unfolded shortly after 1:45 a.m., when the suspect reportedly fled police, who were trying to pull him over for traffic violations.
A preliminary investigation shows the suspect was fleeing deputies at speeds exceeding 90 mph when his car was involved in a collision at the corner of School Street and Swan Street. While he tried to flee the scene on foot, he was ultimately apprehended and placed under custody.
Following the wreck, investigators recovered a defaced firearm from the fleeing vehicle, and the suspect now faces at least eight different charges.
No injuries were immediately reported.
