Multi-vehicle wreck closes lane on eastbound I-290 near Amherst

ERIE COUNTY, NY – Authorities were called to a multi-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on Interstate 290 near Amherst, according to WGRZ TrafficTracker2.

The collision unfolded on the eastbound lanes of I-290 at Sheridan Drive and Harlem Road (Exit 6). It was first reported shortly after 8:00 a.m.

Very few details have been made available at this time, but at the time of the initial report, a traffic backup had stretched nearly down to Millersport Highway (State Route 263).

It’s unclear what caused the wreck, and no major injuries or hospitalizations have been confirmed following the incident.
