Motorcyclist flown to ECMC after striking pole in Village of East Aurora

ERIE COUNTY, NY – A 43-year-old man was injured Tuesday morning when he collided with a utility pole while operating a motorcycle in the Village of East Aurora, according to WGRZ.

East Aurora Police said the accident occurred on a stretch of Olean Road and prompted an emergency response at about 12:02 a.m.

While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, preliminary details indicate the victim, a local resident, was operating a motorcycle when the bike veered off the roadway and struck the pole.

Officials did not indicate whether another vehicle or party was involved.

Crews with AMR Ambulance crews and the East Aurora Fire Department treated the rider at the scene before having him airlifted via Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).

The Erie County Sheriff’s Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is assisting East Aurora Police with an investigation.
