BUFFALO, NY – Two people were injured, one seriously, late Wednesday morning in downtown Buffalo as a result of a rollover crash involving two vehicles, reports WIVB4.
The accident happened at the intersection of Oak and West Tupper streets, shortly before 12:00 p.m.
According to Buffalo police, an 18-year-old was driving a van southbound on Oak Street when, for reasons unclear, it hit an Erie County Department of Senior Services van, which was traveling eastbound on West Tupper Street. The impact of the crash caused the van to tip over.
Officials said a 66-year-old passenger from the van suffered injuries believed to be serious. The victim was transported by ambulance, along with the driver of the Jeep, to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).
Investigators were working to determine whether the teen driver had failed to stop at a red light prior to the collision.
