BUFFALO, NY – Multiple vehicles were involved in a collision Friday morning near downtown Buffalo that sent at least one person to the hospital, reports WGRZ.
The wreck occurred on the southbound lanes of I-190 past Niagara Street and was first reported shortly before 9:56 a.m.
Preliminary details indicate a box truck overturned during the incident. At least one patient was seen being transported from the scene in an ambulance, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately apparent.
Officials said the rolled box truck kept all three southbound lanes of I-190 blocked for more than an hour, but a single lane was later reopened to allow for passing traffic.
Due to the closure, delays were reported from State Route 198 to the Buffalo Skyway. Alternate routes were recommended as crews worked to process the scene.
It’s unclear at this time whether anyone is expected to be charged for their role in the crash.
