BUFFALO, NY – A single-vehicle collision early Sunday morning in northeast Buffalo claimed the life of one person and left another seriously injured, according to WIVB 4.

The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 190 approaching Niagara Street, prompting a response from Buffalo Police at about 2:10 a.m.

Authorities learned that a 20-year-old Hamburg resident was driving a Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. Moments later, the vehicle struck one side of a deceleration ramp median at Exit 8.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His passenger, a 19-year-old who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, suffered severe injuries after being ejected from the vehicle. They were rushed to an area hospital where their condition remains undisclosed.
