ERIE COUNTY, NY – Emergency crews were called to a multi-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 290 near southeast Amherst, according to WBEN TrafficCommand.
The wreck occurred on the eastbound lanes past Main Street, or State Route 5. It was first reported by WBEN at 2:56 p.m.
While officials have not specified the cause or nature of the accident, three cars were involved.
At the time of the initial report, motorists were experiencing heavy congestion back to Interstate 990.
No injuries or transports to the hospital were immediately confirmed.
