Buffalo PD officer sent to hospital after car hits patrol vehicle on I-190 near Front Park

BUFFALO, NY – A crash involving a Buffalo Police Department vehicle and a hit-and-run driver Wednesday night near downtown Buffalo left an officer injured, reports WIVB 4.

The accident happened on southbound Interstate 190 at Exit 9 to Porter Avenue, near Front Park. It was first reported shortly before 10:00 p.m.

According to Buffalo police, a white Chevrolet collided with the officer’s patrol vehicle on the exit ramp, causing the vehicle to run off the roadway and onto a sidewalk.

The officer, who sustained injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, was taken to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).

While the striking vehicle failed to remain at the scene, authorities were able to locate the car and its driver shortly after. Officials indicated that charges against the hit-and-run suspect are pending.

An investigation remains underway.
