ERIE COUNTY, NY – A vehicle accident was reported early Wednesday evening on Interstate 290 near northwest Amherst, according to WBEN TrafficCommand.

The collision took place on the westbound lanes past Exit 5A to Millersport Highway, in an area northeast of Buffalo. It was first reported at about 5:23 p.m.

At the time of the WBEN report, officials had the right westbound lane blocked. Footage captured at the scene indicates at least two passenger vehicles were involved. Both vehicles were observed at rest on the right shoulder, and at least one occupant from each car could be seen standing outside.

It was not immediately apparent whether anyone was seriously injured.
