2 critically hurt in multi-vehicle crash near Town of Darien

GENESEE COUNTY, NY – One person was ejected in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday evening near the Town of Darien that left them and another person critically injured, reports WKBW.

Genesee County deputies said the collision took place at the corner of State Route 77 and Mcvean Road, southeast of Corfu, at about 7:14 p.m. First responders arrived on the scene to find three people, all 30-years-old from the Rochester area, with injuries. All three were determined to have been traveling inside a gray Subaru that had come to rest in the intersection.

According to preliminary details, the Subaru failed to yield the right-of-way as it made a left turn from Mcvean Road onto State Route 77. Moments later, it was hit by a tractor-trailer. The impact caused one person inside the Subaru to eject from the vehicle before they were struck by a Ford Escape.

Officials have confirmed, at the time of WKBW’s report Thursday morning, that two of the passengers from the Subaru remained in critical but stable condition at an area hospital.

The driver of the big rig, who was not report hurt, was released from the crash site, as were the uninjured occupants of the Ford Escape, Grand Island residents aged 25 and 23.

Authorities continue to investigate.
