Young man hit, seriously hurt by car on S Youngs Rd in Amherst

ERIE COUNTY, NY – A 20-year-old Cheektowaga man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in southeast Amherst, reports WIVB 4.

Local police responded to the scene on South Youngs Road, south of Main Street (Route 5), shortly after 2:10 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the victim was crossing the street on foot when he was hit by a 2015 Chevy Cruze, which was driven by a 59-year-old man from Lockport.

First responders rushed the male pedestrian to ECMC for major head injuries.

No injuries to the driver or anyone else were reported.

Officials had the area shut down during the emergency response and investigation.

No pending charges have been reported as of this writing. An investigation remains underway.
