ERIE COUNTY, NY – Authorities responded to a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon that caused miles of congestion on Interstate 290 near southeast Amherst, according to WGRZ TrafficTracker2.
The accident happened on the eastbound lanes at Main Street (Exit 7B) shortly before 4:12 p.m.
Little information has been released, but the center and right lanes of the eastbound interstate were closed as a result causing delays just past the I-990 interchange. At the time of the initial report, traffic was backed up for 3.5 miles behind the scene.
