Multi-vehicle crash causes backup on I-290 EB near Amherst

ERIE COUNTY, NY — Three vehicles were involved in a collision Wednesday morning that led to delays on Interstate 290 near Amherst, according to WGRZ TrafficTracker2.

The accident unfolded on the eastbound lanes at Exit 7B to Main Street (NY-5), in an area northeast of Buffalo. It was first recorded by WGRZ just after 8:00 a.m.

No travel lanes appear to have been blocked in the immediate aftermath, as the wreck was reported on the right shoulder. At the time of the initial report, however, traffic had already come to a standstill back to Sheridan Drive and Harlem Road.

Local officials have not confirmed whether anyone sustained injuries and/or had to be taken to a hospital.

In the event that more information is made available to the public, our team will post a follow-up article with those updates.
