Motorcyclist dies after striking, being dragged by semi in Lewiston

NIAGARA COUNTY, NY — One person died Wednesday afternoon after their motorcycle collided with a semi-truck on Lewiston Road in Lewiston, according to WGRZ.

The accident happened on a stretch of the road between Mountain View Drive and Fort Gray Drive, at about 2:43 p.m.

Witness accounts indicate the motorcyclist impacted with the semi north of Mountain View Drive, and that both the rider and the motorcycle were dragged along Lewiston Road as the semi continued on.

First responders arrived on the scene to find the rider lying in the roadway at Fort Gray Drive, and the motorcycle at the entrance ramp to the Upper Mountain Road overpass.

Upper Mountain Fire Company’s Ambulance crew pronounced the rider deceased at the scene.

Lewiston Police said the driver of the semi remained at the site and cooperated with an investigation, which remains ongoing.

A section of Lewiston Road between Center Street and Interstate 190 was closed during the response. Multiple area agencies, including the New York State Parks Police, New York State Police, and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, assisted the Lewiston Police Accident Investigation Unit.
